Microsoft Azure Revenue Disclosure 2026: Agents and Infra Explained

2 Sep: Microsoft pledges quarterly Azure dollars. Two segments, a narrower cut, and the old three-segment P&L goes dark.

To read the 2 September 2026 cloud-finance story, split two facts: Microsoft will publish Azure revenue in dollars every quarter from fiscal 2027; and it is collapsing the three operating segments used since 2015 into Agents and Infra and Devices and Consumer.

CNBC, citing the investor deck, says the new Azure line is closer to a consumption platform and infrastructure business. It drops GitHub cloud services, developer cloud services, Security Copilot, and healthcare and life-sciences cloud products that had sat inside “Azure and other cloud services.”

2 Sep disclosure pledge June-quarter restated dollars FY2027: two segments, two Azure definitions

Two segments is a map change, not a breakup

This redraws the reporting map. It does not spin Azure out. Nadella wrote that AI is blurring product boundaries and reshaping business models.

01

Agents and Infra

Holds Azure, Microsoft 365 cloud products, productivity and server licensing, industry solutions, and frontier and support services. Commercial Copilot and GitHub Copilot momentum will show up on this line.

02

Devices and Consumer

Covers search and advertising, Xbox, and revenue from devices and Windows licenses sold to OEMs. Advertising now sits in one segment.

03

Azure gets narrower

From 2021 Microsoft quoted growth in Azure and other cloud services, later folding in pieces of GitHub and Nuance. The new cut removes those side paths so the line can sit next to AWS and Google Cloud.

Line up the numbers already on paper

Dates and definitions are calmer than “Microsoft is finally as transparent as Amazon.”

  1. 1

    2 September: quarterly dollars land

CNBC notes Amazon has disclosed AWS revenue since 2015 and Alphabet has disclosed Google Cloud (including Workspace) since 2020. Microsoft had given Azure’s year-over-year growth rate, and started giving annual sales last year. This week it pledged a quarterly dollar figure.

  2. 2

June quarter: $29.42 billion, up 42%

Under the new definition Azure took in $29.42 billion, up 42%; the old Azure-and-other-cloud metric grew 43%. Azure was almost 33% of Microsoft’s total revenue in that period. The company is recasting two years of results and will stop showing costs and operating margins for the three old segments.

  3. 3

    Fiscal first-quarter 2027 guide

Management said Azure should grow 44% to 45% at constant currency. It targets $75.15 billion to $75.75 billion in Agents and Infra and $14.7 billion to $15.2 billion in Devices and Consumer. The outlook for overall revenue, cost of revenue and operating expenses is unchanged.

33%
Share of Microsoft revenue that quarter

Do not write “purer Azure” as “OpenAI is already consolidated”

Claim Public line Still missing
Quarterly dollar revenue Disclosed from FY2027 A reporting pledge, not a new cloud SKU
OpenAI contribution Stifel in July estimated about half of Azure FY2026 growth Microsoft did not print that share as an official KPI
Copilot seats July: more than 30 million paid 365 Copilot seats (over 20 million in April) Seats are not the Azure dollar line

Why enterprise buyers care

Finance and sourcing teams can now put an Azure dollar figure next to AWS and Google Cloud without reverse-engineering the Microsoft Cloud bundle. CNBC also notes Anthropic has become more reliant on Microsoft’s cloud. This is not the multi-cloud interconnect preview or a warehouse graph-query launch; see AWS–Azure interconnect and BigQuery graph.

Aligning segment definitions and renewal lists does not need a full meeting suite: in figmeet a room ID is enough for voice plus a board; see the guide and features.

# Public markers (CNBC 2026-09-02; Microsoft FY27 KPI presentation)
Event: first quarterly Azure dollar revenue (FY2027 reporting)
Segments: 3 -> 2 (Agents and Infra / Devices and Consumer)
Azure restated Jun-qtr: $29.42B, +42% (old Azure+other-cloud +43%)
Share: ~33% of Microsoft revenue that quarter
FY27 Q1 Azure guide: +44% to +45% constant currency
Agents and Infra guide: $75.15B–$75.75B
Devices and Consumer guide: $14.7B–$15.2B
Azure now excludes: GitHub cloud, developer cloud, Security Copilot, healthcare/life-sciences cloud
OpenAI: Stifel (July) estimated ~half of Azure FY2026 growth
M365 Copilot: >30M paid seats (July) vs >20M (April)

Nadella wrote that under this reporting structure, Azure becomes more purely the consumption-based platform and infrastructure business. Do not rewrite that as “Microsoft sold Office.”

Agents and Infra
The first new operating segment: cloud infrastructure, 365, licensing, industry solutions and frontier support. GitHub Copilot momentum lives here; GitHub cloud revenue does not sit in the narrower Azure figure.
Devices and Consumer
Search ads, Xbox, devices and Windows OEM licenses.
Old three-segment margins
Microsoft will stop showing costs and operating margins for the three prior segments and is recasting two years so the new map can be compared.

Questions worth checking

Did Microsoft hide Azure sales completely until this week?

No. CNBC says the company had given year-over-year growth and started publishing annual sales last year. What is new is a quarterly dollar figure and a narrower Azure definition.

Which growth rate is the “real” one, 42% or 43%?

Both are Microsoft’s own restated figures: 42% on the new cut, 43% on the old Azure-and-other-cloud metric. The one-point gap is the side paths now excluded.

Is this the same as chip tariffs or remote-access rules?

No. This note is Microsoft’s own segment map and Azure disclosure. Tariffs and export controls are parallel files; do not flatten them into one headline.

Did the company change its overall outlook?

CNBC writes that the outlook for total revenue, cost of revenue and operating expenses is unchanged. What changed is how the pieces are labeled and whether Azure appears as a standalone dollar line.
